Choquequirao – Machu Picchu 6 Days

CODE : ZTK3P

Choquequirao, the golden cradle and Machupicchu, the lost Inca city, are built high up in the the mountains, almost inaccessible, with spectacular views, interconnected by Inca trails.

This trekking route offers a spectacular landscapes and walks through traditional Andean villages. In many visitors opinion this is the best trekking route offered in the Cusco Region, part of which is done on horseback.

The Choquequirao to Machupicchu trek is a  great adventure  option and not as well-used by tourists, allowing a more authentic experience.

Choquequirao to Machu Picchu is the second most important archaeological site in the Cusco region. It has a connection with the last Inca city of Vilcabamba and Machu Picchu is in the middle of different Inca roads that crossed the entire Inca Empire. After a fairly hard walk, we will see the fascinating and remote Choquequirao “cradle of gold” in Quechua, impressive in design and location, perched on top of a spur above the Apurimac Canyon, the third deepest canyon in Peru.

This is a great place to see condors that inhabit the area. From here we continue our trek to an even more remote territory where we can see villagers living in the Yanama area, as well as glaciers, valleys and silver mines. The highest point of the trek is the Yanama Pass at 4800 masl / 15900 feet after which we descend to the subtropical area. We walked through the coffee and banana plantations before reaching Aguas Calientes. The last day is dedicated to exploring the Lost City of the Incas. Macchu Picchu.
